18th Annual Conference of the Society for Higher Education Research 11.-13. Sep 2023
The interaction of university research and university development: Empiricism, transfer and effects
The 18th Annual Conference of the Gesellschaft für Hochschulforschung (Society for Research on Higher Education, GfHf) will take place on the campus of Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences from 11–13 September 2023. Joint hosts are the CHE Centre for Higher Education and Osnabrück University of Applied Sciences.
This year’s priority theme focuses on interaction between higher education research and higher education development. In this context, a key role is played by the data obtained from higher education research, its transfer, and the impact generated in university practice and policy as a result. Another aim of the conference is to shed light on the mutual relations between the two areas: How is impetus from university practice and policy channelled into higher education research and incorporated there? Is there room for improvement? Against this backdrop, the objective of the conference is not only to give thematic research results a forum, but also to discuss the aspect of cooperation with university practice and policy. In the process, it is also important to reflect on how close the link should be in order to be beneficial.
The conference programme comprises on the first two days 60 lectures, four keynotes, a panel discussion, various poster presentations and an evening event, where the Ulrich Teichler Award for outstanding dissertations and the GfHf Young Talent Award for outstanding master or diploma theses will be presented. The conference is already fully booked, so registrations are currently only possible for the waiting list at www.conftool.net/gfhf2023/.
This year’s HoFoNa annual meeting for doctoral and early-career researchers will take place on 13 September 2023, i.e., on the third day of the conference. More information about this event is available in the HoFoNa section of this website.
